Primitive Reflexes are involuntary, rhythmic movements in babies that are critical for the development of posture, coordination, and behavior.

Amanda is originally from Argentina born and raised. She is a classically trained musician & neuroanatomist. The Quantum Effects of Gentle Movements: Primitive Reflex Integration

“Everything is connected to everything,” explains Amanda Stencken, PhD, who joins the Quantum Biology Collective Podcast to discuss the way small movements—rhythmic integrated movements to be exact—can create huge changes in the body. As Amanda explains, during our development in the womb and in our earliest years, our bodies make unconscious movements to help us develop and connect all of our parts to help us function optimally. When these movements, after serving their purpose, fail to phase themselves out, issues ranging from ADHD and autism to anxiety and weight gain arise. On today’s episode, Amanda explores the idea that the body stores all of our life baggage in our water, particularly in our fascia. And when we engage in movements that the body associates with safety, we open up pathways to allow for the rapid movement of information and ultimately healing. You’ll hear her explain why we need to learn to slow down, listen to our bodies, and trust that if we learn to give the right inputs, it will take care of the outputs. Today Amanda and Meredith will share personal stories of healing through rhythmic integrated movements, as well as its benefits to women at all stages of menopause and its effects on trauma recovery. How Light And Movement Shape Our Brains

“If you address the inputs, the outputs address themselves,” says Dr. Amanda Steencken, who joins The Quantum Biology Podcast to discuss her work with primitive reflex integration work. Primitive reflexes, she explains, are the body’s involuntary movements, which occur down to the subatomic level, in response to stimuli that promote brain development and keep us safe in the world. When this connection is never stimulated, or gets turned off for myriad reasons, the results are anything from fallen arches in the foot, to chronic pain, to anxiety and learning disabilities. The particular form of rhythmic movement training that Amanda practices imitates and recapitulates the movements done during development in utero, thus stimulating the brain connection. After getting her PhD in neuroscience and later studying naturopathy, Dr. Amanda discovered primitive reflex integration work, while looking for treatment for her own family The changes she has seen and experienced from it, combined with light optimization and balanced circadian rhythm, have been so remarkable as to lead her to place movement above nutrition and even oxygen in terms of vitality and importance to healing and optimal health. This practice is also beneficial for those stuck in fight/flight/freeze/fawn responses of their sympathetic nervous system.
